Update: Will Silverlight 3 be part of Windows Mobile 7 ? YES

Update: the MIX09 video about Windows Mobile 6.5 in the QnA session announced that Silverlight said that it was to late for the v6.5 development process but it will be available in the next version. Another question also seemed to imply that Windows Mobile 7 will have full xaml support.

It seems that Microsoft are keeping mum about weather Silverlight 3 will be a part of Windows Mobile in the future… Now that it has been announced that Silverlight 3 will support standalone application it seems really possible that MS will use it in Windows Mobile 7.

Brad Becker was asked in an interview with Mary Jo Foley “when Microsoft would support Silverlight out-of-browser on mobile devices?” Becker said “Microsoft had nothing to announce about that kind of support at this time.” Hmmm…..

My reckoning is (Mythbusters Time):

  • 110% chance that they will have Silverlight 3 in Windows Mobile 7
  • 20% chance that they are waiting to see if they can port Silverlight 3 in Windows Mobile 7 before announcing anything
  • 20% chance that they are not even trying to put Silverlight 3 in the Win Mobile 7
  • 15% chance that they will have Silverlight as a post release update that they will push out are Win Mobile 7 RTM’s

Wow. That’s 110%, so i must be right then…
